Oman-UAE Rail Network Project Progresses

• The $2.5 billion UAE-Oman Rail Network project, spearheaded by Hafeet Rail, is making significant strides, with heavy machinery already deployed for track laying.

• This railway will connect five ports and industrial zones across both countries, significantly boosting trade and connectivity between the UAE and Oman.

• Freight trains will travel at speeds of up to 120 km/h, transporting over 15,000 tonnes of goods per journey, while passenger trains will reach 200 km/h with a capacity of 400 passengers.

• The 238km railway line will feature 60 bridges and tunnels, reducing travel time between Abu Dhabi and Sohar to just 100 minutes, and supporting both Oman Vision 2040 and the UAE Centennial 2071.

• By linking Sohar Port to the UAE's rail network, the project aims to create a vital trade corridor, enhancing the region's position as a key transport and logistics hub.
